Alternative farm revenue
Crops and Livestock are not the only financial income farms can rely upon, however, every farmer knows of a failed new enterprise. How do some alternative schemes succeed at the expense of others? What options are available to you? How can you become a business expert in a new market?
Alternative crops
Diversification in the rotation can open new markets while helping the soil; such as legumes between crops can re-nitrify the soil whilst also being a new crop. Similarly, intercropping can be both a regenerative technique and new crop. Some farms go more drastic, introducing longer term crops such as Cricket bat willow, Orchards or Vineyards, but all of these take massive investment and require informed decision making prior to creation to ensure recuperation of cost and profit margins. We approach this with baselining, experience and modelling achieved through the Farming for Life product.

This option has been popular and used as a regular example for diversification. This market has become quite saturated in the region but there are still opportunities for this if it is something you are interested in developing. Our team can help model the business, seek out Unique Selling Points and demonstrate the pitfalls experienced from the knowledge base source from our other clients.

We think there are other options it may be worth exploring.
